| Copied and edited from http://ntsd.forumotion.com/sprites-f1/spriting-styles-t13972.htm Original Post was by Romaxas IIISND (The one 13 and Naruto: The Setting Dawn used)-- Spoiler:
1st of your favourite ones, SND(used in NTSD) SND - Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu(ENG - Ninja Council). These exact sprites were 1st used in a game for Gameboy Advance called " Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 2"(Naruto: Ninja Council 2). | Eventualy creators sticked to the style and used it in their next game " Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3"(Naruto: Ninja Council 3). For this game they kept the shape for most of the characters to save time and anyway, they looked good enough, but they did make all the characters darker in color. This new change left a deeper print in people`s memory, they were soon ripped and started to use for game and such replacing the old SND2. | Not so long afterwards a new game came out, but it used the exact sprites that were used in making the 3rd. And then, finaly, a long awaited game came out: " Naruto Shippūden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 5"(Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Council 5) wich had a major success since it was Shippuden related, thus meaning the creators had to make a whole bunch o fnew sprites, and they did. They kept the dark style as it had great ratings, plus with all those new characters... The new style shocked the Naruto spriting world. | Continueing their series the creators released their final sprite related game "Naruto Shippūden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu - Gekitou! Naruto vs. Sasuke"Since the game engine required small sprites(SND6), they made them realy small, it almost seemed like they just shrinked the SND5. |
JUS-- Spoiler:
2nd often used JUS. JUS - Jump Ultimate Stars. It was 1st used in a game called " Jump Superstars" wich had a massive amount of characters to choose from. The game had most of the popular JUMP mangas. | Later on, a new game was released " Jump Ultimate Stars" Wich was realy a second part of the thing, it was almost the same, only it was based on later on story`s of JUMP. |
LSW-- Spoiler:
3rd The beloved LSW. LSW - Legendary Super WarriorsIn `02 a game shocked everybody... Gameboy color for the 1st time proudly presented " Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors"(Dragon Ball Z: Densetsu no Chousenshi Tachi). The game was turn based so there weren`t much frames for the sprite, meaning they were easy to rip, and they were. The sprites were so revolutinary they were imidiatly started to work on. | As time past, no more game with that style were released, so people released a new idea of LSW. These we later on called sLSW thus leading sprites to a new era or spriting.... | Eventualy a team was formed, they were united by one goal - Spriting all the DBZ characters in their style! Plus creating a place where LSW`ers can hang out. Thus Dragon Ball Z Vortex has formed. With lots of people joining, a team of the lead spriters was formed. VRP- That was their name. Before VRP people were randomly spriting in anyway they want, but VRP was more like a pointer, where everybody else should/could aim. | With VRP developing, other talented spriters did not sleep aswell. Many new variations of LSW were born over these couple of years, and it`s even extending now. No more does LSW cover the Dragon Ball universe alone. |
Here are some spriting tips you guys may want to know.
- Always save in PNG, not JPG
- When using black, don't use total black, because in the 13 game, total black means transparent (You can't see the color)
- Use x8 zoom
- Use pick color a lot
- Put the color you used on the side of your sprites
- Use good shading (Shadow, 3D)
- Good proportion (Head, body, legs)
- WE CALL THE PEOPLE WHO STEALL SPRITES "F*CKING LEECHERS"
